CARA Operations Limited is growing!!!

 

We are actively in search of a Project Manager, Construction to join our dynamic team in Western Canada.  The Project Manager Construction is responsible for the project management of new developments and renovation of existing sites for all Cara’s branded restaurant concepts with the combined objective of achieving annual store period plans while delivering high quality turnovers within the annual capital budget. Plan, tender, budget, monitor, and review new unit construction and renovations of existing units

 

 

As the ideal candidate your responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinating ground up construction, major renovations, and conversion projects for Cara’s branded restaurant concepts
  • Managing general contractors, consultants, vendors, and suppliers
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Ensuring engineering, architectural, and design activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Developing a construction schedule and accurate budget for each construction project Manage building permits and site approvals process
  • Manage the tendering process
  • Establishing and monitoring of budgets and adherence of variance controls
  • Manage site communications and issue resolution
  • Overseeing construction and conducting periodic site inspections to ensure quality, timing, and adherence to standards
  • Reviewing and confirming building standards
  • Liaising with various internal contacts including Design and Construction, Restaurant Operations, Supply Chain, Real Estate, Franchising, and Legal Departments to ensure projects are completed as per plan. Liaising with Franchisee’s through the construction process.
  • An understanding of the building permit process (zoning, variance, SPA); manage the various municipal authorities to obtain required licensing, permits, etc.

 You will offer:

  • Advanced organization skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Contract negotiation and management skills
  • Ability to manage strict capital expenditures
  • Ability to negotiate with contractors and landlords on cost of work and timelines
  • Attention to detail, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project) including a mix of technical and management skills
  • 5-7 years construction management experience.  Restaurant experience an asset.
  • Technical degree in the construction field (i.e. P.Eng, CET, B. Arch)
  • Project management background and familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proficient in CAD and space planning
  • Ability to travel across Canada (approx. 49%)
